Get Involved

Insight San Diego is a local community of meditation practitioners seeking to bring the teachings of the Buddha into their lives. We welcome new and experienced practitioners and seek to develop a diverse and inclusive community.

As an all-volunteer organization, there are many ways you can support us. You can volunteer with us by assisting with events, joining a committee to help shape our programs, or by bringing new program ideas to our community.

One of our core values is looking to the Dharma to help guide us in our decisions. Offering your service to the Insight San Diego community is one way to cultivate and practice many of the qualities we are studying, such as generosity, virtue, energy, patience, resolve, and equanimity, as well as much of the Eightfold Path. It is also a way to meet new teachers and others practicing the Dharma. Volunteers on the Program Committee have said it provides an opportunity to strengthen and deepen their practice.

INFORMATICS COMMITTEE Hal@insightsd.org

The Informatics committee is responsible for communications to our community. They develop and maintain digital resources like our website, event registration, email campaigns and social media systems.

Specific tasks

• Provide ideas for our digital presence and communications

• Maintain and improve web pages

• Programming “back-end” modules in PHP

• Produce and send email communications

• Post to and support our social media accounts

• Maintain our event registration system and online calendar

RETREAT COMMITTEE  Steven@insightsd.org

The Retreat Committee meets remotely once a month to plan retreats and teacher-in-residence programs.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE Irene@insightsd.org

The Program Committee plans, supports and develops programs and events that advance ISD’s mission to provide a safe, comfortable, inclusive and welcoming environment for people to study and practice the Dharma.

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE

The Volunteer Committee is led by our Volunteer Coordinator who helps ensure all our events have the right volunteers to be successful.

EVENT SUPPORTERS

Our Event Supporters help make our events a success by assisting with the setup and/or take down of events, including signage postings, registration staffing, site beautification, setup of drinks/snack table, and support for audio needs.
