Cultivating Samādhi to Find Tranquility in the Midst of Everything

Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why This Daylong?

Amidst the swirl of modern life—with its noise, demands, and relentless pace—choosing to slow down is an act of wisdom and compassion. The Buddha taught that samādhi, a steady and integrated mind, is both sanctuary and strength. By cultivating calm and continuity of attention, we discover a kind of inner quiet that allows for rest and restoration—not to escape life, but to meet it with greater presence and intimacy.

What We'll Practice

This retreat will offer guidance in samatha (serenity) meditation and the practice of cultivating samādhi as a balm for the restless, agitated mind and heart. It is an invitation to settle, to soften, and to remember the still point beneath the spin. (Added a period at end of sentence)

Retreat Format

- Noble Silence: The day will be held primarily in noble silence to support turning inward.

- Meditation Practice: Periods of seated and walking meditation will anchor the schedule.

- Dharma Teachings: Teachings will explore the relevance and power of samādhi in today's world.

- Guided Practice & Reflection: Instruction and space for questions or dialogue will be included.

Who Can Attend?

Open to all—seasoned practitioners and curious newcomers alike. You’re warmly invited to set aside the to-do list, unplug from the world’s urgency, and remember the quiet center that was here all along.

This event is part of the weekend residency program.

This offering is part of Insight San Diego’s week-long teacher in residence program with Gullu Singh.
